The Wehrmacht Defends French Soil!

I’m happy to say that today I got to enjoy a great game of Bolt Action with my dear Diego A.
The Wehrmacht (under my command) received orders to intercept an advancing American force (commanded by Diego) pushing through French territory.
We faced off near a small cluster of buildings, flanked by patches of forest, after both sides advanced swiftly along the road. Our orders were simple: destroy the enemy.
Our infantry deployed quickly, although we kept several units in reserve (even more so on the American side), and the engagement began.
Things didn’t start well for the Germans — more willpower than accuracy at first — and the situation got worse once the American armor rolled in. At that point, finesse was off the table: the Germans had to move aggressively.
The Stummel on the right flank performed well, holding off enemy pressure — even against a light tank. In the center, the StuH42 and Stug III had to make their presence known and pushed forward, threatening everything in their path. Luck played its part: the Stug III actually dodged (yes, dodged! 😄) a point-blank shot from an American bazooka on its flank. But luck balanced out when a U.S. unit, clearly outmatched, somehow survived everything the StuH42 threw at them.
You can see the aftermath in the photo.
As for the result? Honestly, I don’t remember the final score — I think it was a one-point difference, but I can’t recall which side took it.
What I do remember is how much fun the game was. We aimed to create a balanced, era-appropriate scenario, and even allowed each other to re-roll questionable dice — we seemed happier getting hit than scoring hits ourselves!
Conclusion: an excellent game. Next time, we’re going early-war — Germans vs. French, in this very same setting, with troops from the opening years.
